New York Mission Trip 2012

Here's my New York Video as promised! Enjoy!

Vacation with Meemaw & Aunt Mary

Back in September, yes, September.. my folks & I had some company for the week. Meemaw & Aunt Mary! I love them & every visit is so much fun.  We decided to be daring and adventurous and rent a beach house at Topsail Beach for a few days.  OH WHAT FUN!

Hopey really enjoyed herself.  Almost every second of the day, she asked to walk over to the ocean. I think her favorite part was playing hide & seek and chilling on the balcony.
Cheers to life, ukes, and big decks.

It felt so good to just relax and get away from school (somewhat), work, house, stress, etc.

and to drink everything from Purple Solo cups those few days.

the walk to the ocean was not far at ALL.

faith took over my camera and asked meemaw to hold the uke to "look cool" haha

Self picture taking it what she liked best I think.  What a loony tune.

I love seeing faces all over the places.
*_*

Meemaw and Aunt Mary seriously enjoyed the walks along the shore & moment of "Ahhh... relaxation..."
<3 p="p">

Definitely a tradition we will hold for years!

then we took a trip to Bear Island via FERRY!
It was so cute when we told Hopey we were taking a ferry to get to the beach. She said, "Like TINKER BELL?!"......, "THAT'S EXACLTY WHAT WE MEANT!"

i just love the simplistic nature of this little island.

Yea, we're cool & we know it.

Then another REALLY fun addition to our week!....

I hosted a Clue Murder Mystery Party at our house.  We invited the Headley family to join us.  I decorated the house with an old mansion from the 1940's look. Each room from the game was added in our home. There was a hall, lobby, library, study, kitchen, ballroom, dining room, billiard room, and a conservatory which we renamed the lavatory (since it was in the bathroom)
Of course,
invitations from Mr. Body requested his guests Mr Green, Ms Scarlet, Mrs White, Col. Mustard, Prof Plum, and Mrs Peacock to dress in the 1940's attire that the game showed.
That night we munched on finger foods that went with everyone's name.  Mrs White's Cheese White Cubes, Ms Scarlet's Scandalous Punch, Col Mustards Honey Mustard Chicken, Mr Green's Guacamole and Quesadillas, and Professor Plum's Purple Pie.
After our meal we all waited for Mr Body to arrive. He wasn't even there to greet his guests! How rude!  Once Mr Body finally  arrived, the power suddenly went out.  Guests screamed and lost control.  When the lights came back on, Mr Body was found dead!
Now the game of Whodunit had to be played! Each guest was given the traditional Clue evaluation papers and cards evenly distributed to solve the murder.  It was just a good ol' Clue games, except live!
The knife, the rope, the revolver, the candlestick, and the wrench!

The study

Our tools to solving this Murder!

Part of the library

Here lay the 3 secret cards that revealed The murderer, the weapon, and the room it was done in.
 Ms Scarlet's Punch!
Frozen cranberry juice, pineapple juice, and ginger ale.
YUMMY!

The characters from left to right:  Me (the Maid of Mr Body's mansion), Faith (The head server), Mrs Terri (Mrs White), Mr Clyde (Col Mustard), Dad (Prof Plum), Meemaw (Mrs Peacock), Hope (another maid), Mom (Mr Green), and Aunt Mary was Mrs Scarlet!

It was SO much fun. It was definitely a highlight of the week.

I'm very glad we decided to have this vacation and spend it with such wonderful people!

A Cup of Jo -Forgiveness.

Today's cup of Jo will be on the topic of Forgiveness.

Forgiving is something that is really really really REALLY hard to do.  I have learned that through life.  Sure it's easier said than done! The HARDEST time to forgive someone is when they don't really deserve it.  When they do something that just drove you crazy mad, completely disobeyed or disrespected you, broke complete trust you had in them, crossed the line with whatever they did to you.
When those situations happen and the words of "I'm sorry, forgive me" have been said to you it is so so easy to say no.
Why on earth should you forgive that person?

Because we have a Father who always forgives our own faults.
It is so amazing to me that I have complete forgiveness no matter what I have done.
My Father has arms wide open & says,  "You are forgiven. My child I still love you like nobody else does."

It is a huge relief to know that our wounds from our own stupid choices aren't even thought about by Him anymore. They are gone & forgiven. Once we have asked Him for that forgiveness we clearly don't deserve, He doesn't hesistate.  He is such a gracious God.

Nobody has a clean & perfect past. We have each made stupid choices that we look back and are ashamed of -myself included.
But you know what, it's all forgiven completely.  The slate has been cleaned. The sins written on it have been wiped off.  A new refreshing start has been given.

So now, why shouldn't we forgive others who have done wrong to us?  When it comes to a point where I need to forgive someone but I'd rather bite my tongue, I think about ALL the many times it was me who was asking for the grace. It is extremely hard at times. And that won't change.
One thing we need to keep in mind is how powerful forgiveness is. It can lift burdens and weights off our shoulders so quickly.  It can give us a refreshing start in life. When it is genuine, it is pretty powerful stuff.

My life song is "Forgiven" by Sanctus Real.  I get teary-eyed everytime I listen to it because I go back and rethink my past.  I can't help but question how could those things be forgiven? Once again, God doesn't care what it was. It's all forgiven. Not bits and pieces -All of it.

I hope you all have the same understanding and appreciation for forgiveness as I do.
It is a very important word to me now.
Bible verses about forgiveness

1 John 2:12  I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for HIS name’s sake.

Thank you for letting me share this with you.
